How to Bulk Rename Files
Renaming files individually is tedious. Whether you are organizing vacation photos, music libraries, or invoices, our tool automates the process securely.
Method 1: Using BulkRename.Online (Recommended)
This is the fastest method because it works on any device (Windows, Mac, Linux, Chromebook) and requires no installation.
- Go to the Main Tool.
- Drag and drop your folder or specific files into the main dropzone area.
- Use the configuration panel on the left to set your rules (e.g., adding a prefix, changing case to lowercase).
- Observe the "New Filename" column to verify your changes in real-time.
- Click Download All to save the files individually, or Download ZIP to get them in a single archive.
Method 2: Using Windows File Explorer
Windows has a built-in feature, though it is quite limited compared to our tool:
- Select all files you wish to rename (Ctrl + A).
- Right-click the first file and select "Rename".
- Type a new name (e.g., "Holiday_Photo") and press Enter.
- Windows will rename them "Holiday_Photo (1)", "Holiday_Photo (2)", etc.
Note: You cannot easily control the numbering format, add dates, or perform find-and-replace operations using this native method.
