How to Bulk Rename Files

Renaming files individually is tedious. Whether you are organizing vacation photos, music libraries, or invoices, our tool automates the process securely.

Method 1: Using BulkRename.Online (Recommended)

This is the fastest method because it works on any device (Windows, Mac, Linux, Chromebook) and requires no installation.

  1. Go to the Main Tool.
  2. Drag and drop your folder or specific files into the main dropzone area.
  3. Use the configuration panel on the left to set your rules (e.g., adding a prefix, changing case to lowercase).
  4. Observe the "New Filename" column to verify your changes in real-time.
  5. Click Download All to save the files individually, or Download ZIP to get them in a single archive.

Method 2: Using Windows File Explorer

Windows has a built-in feature, though it is quite limited compared to our tool:

  1. Select all files you wish to rename (Ctrl + A).
  2. Right-click the first file and select "Rename".
  3. Type a new name (e.g., "Holiday_Photo") and press Enter.
  4. Windows will rename them "Holiday_Photo (1)", "Holiday_Photo (2)", etc.

Note: You cannot easily control the numbering format, add dates, or perform find-and-replace operations using this native method.
